About Me
Malignant Melanoma Survivor
Background
Clay Mentor is an avid trail‑runner and weekend woodworker who has been navigating a malignant melanoma diagnosis since the summer of 2022. What began as a seemingly harmless mole on his left calf led to a staged excision, followed by a wide local excision with sentinel‑lymph‑node biopsy that confirmed Stage IIIC disease. Three years on, Clay continues active treatment—monthly nivolumab infusions and targeted BRAF/MEK therapy—while championing sun‑safety awareness in his community. Between follow‑ups, he mentors newly diagnosed patients, still finds time to coach his son’s soccer team, and is determined to notch a half‑marathon PB once his current treatment cycle wraps up.
